WELSH CHEESES SWEEP THE BOARD AT BRITISH CHEESE AWARDS

Celebrations all around after Cheeses From Wales cheese producers had a bumper night at the prestigious annual British Cheese Awards, which were held on the 21st October 2005 at the Imperial Gardens, Cheltenham. Taking top honours in a number of the competitions the night of achievement included:

Teifi Farmhouse was awarded Supreme Champion status for its semi-soft cheese, Celtic Promise, this cheese was also awarded the Best Semi Soft Cheese in class, Leon Downey of Llangloffan Cheese was awarded UK Cheese Person of the Year, Caws Cenarth were presented with two awards, best Welsh Cheese with their Organic Caerffili and best Export Blue Cheese with Perl Las.

On top of the top awards Cheeses From Wales cheeses were also presented with a further seventeen medals including:

Commenting on the winning cheese, Festival Director Juliet Harbutt said:
